Mr. Black (Marty) has practised law in Ottawa for more than 40 years, with a focus and experienced perspective on:

• residential and commercial real estate acquisitions, sales and financings
• incorporations, shareholder agreements and buying and selling of businesses
• land development, including subdivision and condominium registrations
• joint ventures, partnerships and syndications
• commercial leasing and enforcement of leases
• wills, estates and estate litigation
• mortgage enforcement matters
• corporate and financial restructuring
• bankruptcy, insolvency and commercial litigation
• construction liens and other collections

Mr. Black served for four years as the Head of the Law Society of Ontario’s Insolvency (Creditor / Debtor Rights) Section of the Bar Admissions Course.  He has also lectured at the Bar Admissions Course for many years and at various Continuing Legal Education Programs sponsored by the Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Bar Association, Carleton County Law Association, Ottawa Real Estate Board, Canadian Institute and Ottawa-Carleton Home Builders' Association on the topics of condominiums, real estate, bankruptcy, insolvency, creditor / debtor law and personal property security law.

Mr. Black has been actively involved in various charitable and non-profit organizations, as a volunteer, board member and/or pro bono legal counsel, including various health, educational and arts organizations.
